Erasing the line between functional and sculptural objects Ann Jansson works with a mass of precision and experience. With a remarkable sense of proportion she spawns mature and refined works that breathe monumentality.
These large, thick and heavy pieces are perceived as light, effortless and balanced. Completely hand built out of a durable stoneware clay Ann Jansson has meticulously developed her technique making these seemingly simple works into very technically complex sculptures. The clay is left unglazed resulting in an immense presence of the clay and giving these giant vessels a very tactile quality. With studies dating back to the mid 60’s her pieces can be found at several museums, institutions and important private collections worldwide. These are some of the last remaining pieces ever to be created.
