A perfect combination of experience, tradition and control mixed with a complete surrendering to the elements.

Stefan Andersson (b. 1979) belongs to a rare kind of craftsman. Born into a creative environment he started observing his ceramicist uncle from a young age. Starting an apprenticeship with his uncle at the age of 20, learning not only how to create pottery but more importantly he was taught the ancient Eastern Asian wood firing technique, Anagama. Now 20 years later Andersson is considered to be one of Swedens best contemporary potters, living and working out of the charming town of Leksand. Firing the kiln takes a lot of patience and time, loading with wood once every 5 minutes for over 48h creates temperatures of around 1400 C (2550 F) resulting in ash from the brunt wood to melt over his pots creating vivid and organic glazes.

This absolutely massive piece ways around 90 lbs (40 kg). It has been created using several different modeling and traditional relief techniques and can be used as an outdoor piece in warmer climates. With over 10 years of art related studies, managing classes and courses at the Leksand Academy his knowledge has become a great value for ceramic artists internationally.
