Isak Isaksson belongs to one of Swedens greatest and most collected contemporary potters. Isakssons career as a professional ceramic artist has been fueled by curiosity, research and experimentation. His pieces often draw inspiration from the simple shape of an amphora, a very human form with a body, shoulders, neck and head.

Completely auto deduct Isaksson has spent decades finishing of his forms with complex and rich glazes, and since the early 80’s specializing in crystalline glazes, becoming one of the world's best potters creating this type of surface.

In 1994 his precise grasp of form and surface was awarded the grand prize at the prestigious Sen Hounsai Soshitsu prize at the Tankosha biennale in Kyoto, Japan making Isaksson the first westerner in a centuries year long tradition to receive the award.

Firing this type of glaze demands an immense amount of experience, patience and precision. Slight changes of only a couple of degrees or a couple of minutes in the kiln can result in disaster while firing with decades of training can create sublime and completely unique results.

Isaksson’s work has frequently been exhibited across the world and his pieces have found their way into multiple museums, embassies and private collections worldwide.
