A deep interest in form and over a decade of art related studies are the starting point for Peter Nylander’s work. When working with raku Nylander´s shapes are refined and exact. Built using slabs and hand modelling techniques he slowly creates a form, constantly cutting, elongating, reviewing the proportions and making sure the shape and fit of the lid is ideal. As a complete opposite to his sculpting process the piece is glazed and fired using a traditional raku firing technique. With violent shifts in temperature the glaze cracks and is covered with a thick layer of ash, accentuating the cracks. Peter is the recipient of several grants and his work has been exhibited internationally. The past decade he has been a Senior Lecturer at Beckmans School of Design, Stockholm.
